Once upon a time in a far off land called Latin America (it’s still far off if you read the press) there was a small country called Paraguay. It was bigger then than it is now but its debt was smaller i.e non existent. As such, it was evidently an under developed country. In 1865 it could only boast that it had a railway system, a telegraph system, factories which produced cannon, mortars and various types of bullets a by product of its considerable iron and steel industry. It also had a system of canals and irrigation and of course 98% of the land was publicly owned. The state had a virtual monopoly on foreign trade and enjoyed a commercial trade surplus. Paraguay had a stable currency and owed not a penny in debt. It was however, a drab little place without that most precious of freedoms, free trade. So Brazil, with its two million slaves and Argentina and Uruguay went to war against Paraguay which of course had no slaves.
Well, when I say Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay went to war against Paraguay I really mean to say that Britain, the Bank of London, the Rothschild Bank and the House of Baring went to war. Now I am sure that some of you remember the name Baring. They were wiped out by an employee who played around with their money and lost it. His greed and stupidity was only matched by theirs. He of course, learnt the trick of playing around with other peoples money from his employers. To get back to the point, they financed this war in the name of freedom and it didn’t cost them a penny. When Paraguay was defeated five years later, Paraguay picked up the bill for the war. It had after all been saved or more to the point just under one sixth of the population was saved. The rest were killed in the war, collateral damage I believe they call it. Over 1,250,000 people became collateral damage while their country which had tried with success to build an independent economy now became the collateral that banks wave around when loans are being negotiated.
So under it all went. In 1865 Paraguay had no beggars or thieves till the big thieves in the City of London introduced them. There was very little if any illiteracy thanks to the schooling system. Thanks to the banks Paraguay entered the free world and acquired the most important of all freedoms for a majority world country, the freedom to go into debt. It also acquired the necessity.
Many countries in Latin America have suffered the interference of the banks over the centuries. The poverty so endemic, is not just the result of the last couple of decades. It is what built banks like Baring and Rothschild. If the debts owed by these countries are canceled the poverty stricken children that the banks daily create will no longer have to beg for their dinner. Does anyone care that some bankers might have to sing for their supper? And just how much money does Paraguay owe these scumbags anyway?
